What is JUNOS?

One OS, One interface, One code, the only One you need

JUNOS software is the single network operating system of Juniper. As a single, uniform system, JUNOS software provides one experience across all platforms with a consistent implementation for new features.

One common interface allows operations staff to configure and manage JUNOS platforms in the same way with the same effect throughout the network. Further, the consistency of JUNOS software simplifies the mix of knowledge necessary to remain current with code updates and streamlines the qualification, deployment, and maintenance of software releases.

The single code base of JUNOS software is also the essential underpinning to its strong legacy of high reliability and stability. One system enables Juniper to rapidly deploy platforms, features, and fixes as well as to flexibly integrate new technologies and also readily extend JUNOS software to newer platforms for meeting next-generation needs.

In order to consistently deliver software that meets both schedule and quality requirements, the Juniper process adheres to strict development disciplines that assure not only predictability but also the necessary code structure and testing to reach zero critical regression errors in production releases.

Juniper began using this process from its earliest days. Over the past eight years we’ve never missed a release date – delivering four new versions of JUNOS each and every year. That’s 34 new version releases and over one hundred maintenance releases, always on or before, the scheduled release date.

“Juniper routers just run circles around everything else. If you want speed and the most flexible features, Juniper is the only game in town.”

What our customers have experienced from JUNOS

diagram

  • Enjoying significant efficiencies in key areas:
    - Adding infrastructure: 21-30%
    - Upgrading: 35%
    - Troubleshooting: 15-23%
    - Monitoring: 38%
  • In addition, they report:
    - JUNOS reduces time it takes to train staff by 13%
    - Migration from a multiple code train to a single code train decreased time spent on daily tasks by 22%
We noticed how easy-to-operate the Juniper routers were and we were able to greatly reduce our network management workload.”
